Keeping Glenroy Clean

Christian Gibson community | latest-news 6th October, 2015 No Comments

I bet there’s a lot about keeping Glenroy clean that you didn’t know… like do you know who to contact if there’s an overflowing council rubbish bin? Did you know you can be fined for not securing a load of rubbish in your trailer?

There are plenty of rules and laws that you should be aware of so I thought I’d share with you the ones that I know about so that you can ensure you’re doing the right thing and keeping Glenroy clean for the whole community to enjoy:

• You can be fined for posting unsolicited advertising like posters on light poles.
• You can be fined for littering anywhere in public, even from your car.
• You can be fined for not securing a rubbish load for the tip properly.
• You can be fined after the event if you are reported to the Glenroy Council.
• Fines can range from as low as $200 up to $4,000.
• There is a litter prevention fact sheet available for Glenroy community members.
• Dumping rubbish illegally carries fines up to $4,280 and can be reported by members of the public.

It’s important to note that whilst you may think nobody is watching you, you could very well be and might find an infringement notice in your mailbox if you’ve been caught doing the wrong thing in Glenroy. We want Glenroy to be a clean city, so please ensure you’re doing your bit for the good of the community.
